Hello blog visitors! Although I don't have much to update on, I think it's time for a little question. Who would sleep in a tree house? And what kind of comforts would you say are essential for a night stay or even a couple day stay? Thanks for stopping by, I'll be dropping some thesis questions very shortly!
I would definitely sleep in a tree house but it would be nice to have a light. Maybe something solar incorporated into the design?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! My only thought, is that it would probably be good to have some sort of thermal protection so it doesn't get crazy cold in there!
ReplyDeleteI have stayed in a tree house before. The major items of importance are a bathroom, lights, water and a way to not fall out of the tree. Means of access/egress are also very important.
ReplyDeleteOh definitely. Aside from the very important parts that Matt pointed out (which I definitely agree with. Those are important in most houses, but even more so when suspended above the ground), I would think plenty of windows/areas to view outside.
ReplyDeleteIf I was staying in a treehouse, it would be because I wanted that natural experience. I'd want to see the trees and my surroundings as much as possible
I would defiantly sleep in a tree house. It would be beneficial to use as much of the environment around you as possible. Using solar hot water to heat the floor in order to bring warmth into the structure would be thought
ReplyDeleteI would sleep in a tree house. I think incorporating solar design to this tree house would be beneficial since then this natural space would feel more earth like if it was closer to nature through the use of solar design. Comfort is a large part of where people would like to stay so if this tree house can be built with a balance between aesthetic comfort and solar design that would be the key in my eyes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the awesome feedback gang! I'll be sure to incorporate these "must haves" in a design.
ReplyDeleteHey Bryden, When I was in Jamaica, I went pretty deep into the unexplored back country and met a lot of people who spent their entire lives living in "tree houses" obviously only being in a warm climate, most of them didnt even have walls. In our climate, things would have to be a little bit different obviously, but what I learned from it is that there are so many advantages to this type of living. It really takes a certain type of person to be able to do this, however, it is a great concept. To have a birds eye view on your surroundings is something that we would all love to have, watching, observing nature in its raw state. I guess, as you have previously stated, design would be one of the biggest hurdles. Picking a design that would fit well into nature without ruining the view. I almost feel that this is more of a "Part-Time" building, meaning more of a vacation spot then a full time idea? I guess that's up to the individual. I think if you can incorporate the ideas stated above and come up with a design concept that would not only impress a council, but the public eye as well. You will be well on your way to the next step in this research. Keep it up Bryden
ReplyDeleteHey Bryden,

And I would Totally sleep in a tree house! The Swiss Family Robinson's was one of my favourtie shows as a kid because I loved their house! Some things that might be important is easy access to a bathroom, and quick access to water.
Thought you might get a kick out of this. My friend took this picture in Peru.
